صعدت الجماعات الإرهابية في سيناء عملياتها العسكرية ضد قوات الأمن المصرية على مدار السنوات الثلاث الماضية، حيث قتل خلالها عدد كبير من المسلحين المتشددين، بالإضافة إلى العشرات من أفراد الجيش المصري.
